Another Day Previous Story
Tomorrow inevitably brings change, and often with it, hope.
Heat is expensive. Maybe it’s not that cold. That’s what we tell ourselves. We hate to admit that we’re justifying situations that are difficult. No matter how optimistic we try to be, there’s no getting around the truth. We’re cold. We stare desperately at the ceiling in search of answers. Things have gone terribly wrong. We break down. Our spirit is wounded and we falter, falling into that “other place.” Depression.
Usually one of us was always able to rise above it all with inspiration, to reenergize the other, to recenter us as partners, or to “Remember the Vision!” Another Day is about a specific point in time that we consider a turning point. We were at our lowest. Energy had dissipated, and finding our way back into the dream seemed unlikely if not impossible. Like a car out of gas, we were sputtering to a very slow roll at the side of the road. This dream was about to end.

Not knowing what else to do, we did what came naturally . . . we expressed our feelings in music. We started this song, sitting on the edge of the bed, as a description of the depletion and sadness. The amazing thing was that as we wrote, we found ourselves uncovering a glimmer of hope. We slowly realized that no matter how bad things seemed to be, inevitably there would be a tomorrow. It could be worse, or . . . what if it wasn’t? What started out as an admission of depression turned into a song of waiting to see what was going to happen next. Anticipation. The darkest hour gave us one more chance as we realized the ever present hope of another day. Sometimes we can’t see the dawn without the contrast of the darkness, and so with growing strength and enthusiasm, we began re-imagining the dream!
