Bad Habits Previous Story
Our routines cut deep and penetrating ruts into our possibilities.
Schedule vs. drive. It’s good to have a schedule. Right? When does it become overbearing drive? When did my great quality of timeliness turn into being unnecessarily demanding? For an entire lifetime, we take the behaviors that work and simply repeat them. What works once can possibly work twice, three times and it usually does. What we don’t realize is that each time we repeat something, it is being stored deep within, complete with full muscle memory, and mental tracks to make sure that the pattern can be recalled on a moment’s notice. And so it goes, year after year, as we use our best tricks, skills and routines to make life hum right along.

Concern vs. over caring. It’s good to care. Right? When does it become hovering, expectant, smothering? When did my great quality of loving turn into intruding closeness? Unfortunately, there comes a time when patterns don’t work well anymore. What was once an asset becomes a liability. Sometimes we don’t recognize this phenomenon for some time because we’re busy justifying actions and blaming others. The fact is that the wonderful tracks we lay down inside for quick recall can turn into deep ruts of undesirable routines. The awareness of good habits gone bad became of critical importance to us as we searched to live and express this radical new partnership. Fortunately, we have each other to help uncover, examine, and reconfigure our wayward patterns.
