Good Girl Previous Story
Deeds of kindness bind us.

Sisters—ever-ready, poised
My sister said, “Dad seems good – I talked with him yesterday and he likes the new housekeeper.” She’d found a wonderful woman to help Dad a couple days a week. After a difficult year, we were grateful that he was well cared-for.
Our dearest friend said, “The history of our family that my grandmother hand-wrote is fading. The paper is starting to crumble, and if I don’t transcribe it now, it will be lost forever. No one will remember how special our great-grandparents were, and how much they did to make the way easier for us all. There won’t be a record! The whole family is looking forward to this compilation.” Our friend’s blue eyes flashed with determination and anticipation.
A good friend said, “My mom and dad are both stable for now – what a blessing! But I miss them so much. I can hardly wait to get back, to be with them and help out.” She had come home to tie up some loose ends before departing again. Yet she would stay with her parents as long as she was needed in their challenging times.
Good girls. After listening to their stories, we talked for a long time about the world’s caretakers – those called to lend a hand. They glide into the task with little fanfare, rewarded by seeing that others are better off for their deeds. We imagine a network of kind-hearted souls encircling the globe – “feminine energies,” working quietly to hold the pieces of our precarious world together.
