Out of the Block Previous Story
Small changes collect together to create significant transformation.
The first morning light filters through the high, arched windows. The sculptor, in his ancient studio in the heart of Florence, leans over the marble form and begins chipping away that which does not belong. He persists, his arm in ceaseless motion as he taps steel upon stone until the image is clearly revealed. That which waits, resting within, is brought into view through the sculptor’s tireless effort.

Such is the sculptor’s life. The sun scatters the same sweeping pattern across the familiar rocky floor, littered with chips, scraps, and dusty swirls of marble. He knows it is more than a statue that emerges through his sacred routine. It is a self-portrait, an expression in three dimensions, capturing his inner spirit. He taps out his destiny, breathes life into his life, reveals his character and personality that exists quietly inside, waiting. Only through ritual, repeated labor can he free his spirit. He becomes aware of the guise around his own, true form—the stone that he chips away, steadily revealing what is hidden within. The clutter is evidence of daily activity; a lifetime’s labor, revealing the soul, the essence, freed of the block.
