Reason to Stay Previous Story
We struggle to remain true to our purpose, sometimes disconnected by Life's traumas.
A close friend loses his wife, and a lifetime of familiar patterns and understandings comes to an abrupt halt. Another dear friend finds herself alone after 30 years of marriage, as her husband unexpectedly walks out one day, stating that it is time for him to go. My father dies, leaving my 80 year old mother alone for the first time in her life. Situations such as these are many, but when they occur in, or closely around our own lives they cause great pause as we watch, reflect, and move through our own cycle of grief and recovery.

At first, we seek new ways to cope and perhaps simply survive, but ultimately, it is about so much more—about recreating an entire life, generating new meaning, and finding our own hand-wrought reason to stay that has the power to reanimate our life. It is deep within this personal process of disruption and recovery, that we gain passage into possibilities that have long lain dormant, obscured by our old patterns, our secret distractions. In the midst of lingering memories all around, we discover new routines. We remove ourselves from that which has passed away and can no longer sustains us, to produce a living-breathing purpose that warrants the investment of our every day energies. We uncover the will and strength to rise above it all. Stabilized once again with an authentic personal reason—we stay.
