Rhythm of the Road Previous Story
We draw maps to help us see where we have been.
Comfortable with unfamiliar territory. Telephone poles, trees, street signs, and the lines of the road all contribute to a repetitive, hypnotic rhythm. Over the lulling drone of the tires, the engine’s steady growl. Top down, wind in our hair, everything’s OK. Our instincts lead us west. There’s a map—we can feel it, a plan—hidden yet still very real.
Stopping at the crossroads, we turn toward a new direction, based on the information at hand. We’re free to go wherever we choose, yet we rarely take the easy turning. Some roads end up winding, others are arrow-straight. Every road leads to one place, but we’re seldom sure where it'll be. We follow our destiny, sometimes chosen, known, charted, other times we can’t see the direction till we’ve finished the trip. All we can do is re-commit to staying in the experience, day by day, holding the steering wheel’s tension, following the road. Then hindsight gives us fresh perspective. Action becomes our motto—the sound repeating, the road’s rhythm, engaging us in a journey to the high spirits of the heart.
