Simple Plans Previous Story
The experience of true love once in a lifetime is enough. Life overflows.
We search for something that will make a difference in our relationship: the Secret. We retrace the phases of our life together. Perhaps we have left clues in the scrapbook, or in the sketches in our notepads. As we recall the stages of our shared life, we realize that we are searching for a common thread, a kernel of truth, a bit of wisdom that we can carry with us.

During our younger years, all we needed was a family. We thought that each accomplishment was an end, but then the end kept shifting. We had a family, and we turned to a longing for security. We were secure, and we were determined to excel. Then we were feeling tired and depleted and needing more personal satisfaction. We were in a race for our own identities, and we hungered for praise and recognition. Finally, still uncertain of the finish line, we took ourselves out of the race. Had we lost sight of the partnership that had made it all possible? What was the Secret, after all?
We had forgotten about the magic—that spontaneous, childlike, playful quality that had marked our younger days. There had always been a magic in our relationship that was deeply mysterious. The secret was really quite simple, after all: it wasn’t to be found in the tireless planning, working, and striving. The Secret was in trusting ourselves and the magic of the moment. Our task is simply to remain open to inspired intuition, the unexpected, and the exponential power of a partnership. When there is magic, everything else appears spontaneously.
