The Good Doctor Previous Story
Sometimes what we imagine is different from the way things are.
At 92 years old, the family doctor of the small town walks the streets in his tweed jacket and wool plaid hat that have become his trademarks. People know him well and greet him with a hug or a pat on the back. He has proven himself as a trusted friend who kept his promise with his beloved town and the people he adored like his own family. For many years he worked hard to build the life he saw in his dreams, delivering babies and saving lives while raising his own children. He was smart and capable and there seemed to be nothing that he couldn’t do once he first set his mind to it.

As the years passed, things changed for the good doctor. Suddenly there was crisis in his life. Within a few short years, tragedy had taken the lives of those he loved the most. His wife, son, and daughter were all three gone, and he found himself alone, wondering what he had done wrong.
Life is a paradox. On one hand, we can create anything we choose, if we just focus our intentions and proceed with courage and confidence. On the other hand, we see repeatedly how things can suddenly shift despite our best efforts. What was once easy can become impossibility. Both “anything is possible” and “just the way things are” seem to coexist, welded together as opposite sides of the same coin. We soon realize that to move forward into life’s adventure requires that we must carry all possibilities with us each and every day—whether we call them good or bad.
