Thief Previous Story
Time breaks into our lives leaving circumstantial evidence behind.
“Circumstantial evidence,” the officer says without looking up from the papers on his desk. “No sign of forced entry. Nothing missing. No prints. An open window and a few things moved around isn’t enough for a warrant.”
But I was there!
I’m sure the windows were closed when I went to bed. He’s been in my home – I know it! I feel vulnerable and violated. Even though he took nothing tangible, his presence has shifted everything. My life has been exposed, pried open to scrutiny and change. Things will never be the same. There was no cooperation from the authorities even though I know the intruder’s name—Time.

He’s done it again. Time breaks into every second of my day, shamelessly. Not an inch of my private space is free of his conniving hand. Time sweeps unseen over and through all I am and possess. I see the aftereffects, but no one witnesses the deed.
Time’s evidence is “merely circumstantial,” but his secret existence worries us, distracts us, and leaves us vulnerable. What a sneaky fellow, that devil Time!

The perfect crime
