Tuscan Hills Previous Story
Our memories get tied up in a place like a kite caught in high tree branches.
We reach down and, with two hands, scoop up the rocky soil. We let it sift, heaped high, slightly moist, through our fingers. We want to touch the earth in special places, to get our hands dirty, feel the grit beneath our fingernails. It can happen when we attach ourselves with feeling to a place.

Having experienced powerful places, we think of them and our pulse quickens in anticipation, then it slows and we relax. There are places where we seem to breathe more deeply, stay longer, and feel at home, where there’s a comfort and sense of connection with others. We feel related to the history and the culture, and we accept it at face value, not desiring change. Such places have, for us, brighter sun, bluer sky, fresher air. We sense that we’ve been here before, because we feel beyond all doubt that we belong.
It isn’t simply that we feel better; these special places tell us who we are—and more, they invite thoughts of who we want to become. They enchant us, magnetizing us to be all that we can be. This song weaves a story of such a place. There we find ourselves immersed fully and firmly attached. The mood in which we are surrounded soaks into our skin, like rain soaks into the old windowsill. We see ourselves reflected everywhere—even the ancient stone wall seems to mirror our faces, while the weathered wood reflects the face of a friend. This is the place where we feel complete, and we dig in—deeply.
