Twenty Paces Previous Story
A face-to-face relationship isn't necessarily eye-to-eye.
The Frauenkirche, a lovely Baroque church, was reduced to rubble in the war-torn streets of Dresden, Germany during Word War II. Visiting the site sixty years later brought deep feelings of melancholy, mixed with glimmers of forgiveness. Years after the war, hands and hearts from both sides were joined in an incredible effort of reconstruction. As each stone was salvaged and carefully numbered, wounds healed. Lost pieces were replaced, carved with care from new stone, the wonder of reconstruction visible in the final patchwork, a reminder of man’s destructiveness, and the healing power of forgiveness.

How often have we dueled with friends and loved ones, how many sacred places have we destroyed through careless acts? How many times have we fought for what’s “right” before we realized the cost? The Frauenkirche stands for hope and forgiveness; but before healing can truly come, we must first decide to trust.
