Wake-up Call Previous Story
Nearly 10 years ago, we cut all ties with our former lives and set out on a journey of the heart.
Our goal was to invent a new relationship. We felt we had fallen asleep in comfortable surroundings. One after another, various aspects of our life had become routine, and the excitement and sense of fresh possibilities had gradually contracted with the passing years.
On a walk together one day, we realized that we were already free, and that we had only imagined our self-imposed limitations.
We knew that it was the end of one era, and that the only way to chart a fresh course would be to release our preconceived ideas. We chose to be finished and satisfied with everything we had created, and ready to move on. There would be no turning back. We let go of familiar limits, luxuries, and friends and embarked on an exhilarating ten-year quest.
No drifting off!
Now, a decade after the journey began, we’ve begun to notice curiously familiar words in our conversation. Could it be that we’ve completed the dream? Has what began with foggy imaginings been materialized, almost without our conscious awareness? Caught in our striving, have we overlooked what has changed within and around us?
“Know when you’re finished” has become a touchstone phrase for us. Now it rings true once again. When the alarm sounds, will we heed it, or turn over and fall back asleep?
Our decade-long journey appears to have come to a beautiful end. It’s time to whisper a new dream, and begin making it a reality.
