Where I Need to Be Previous Story
No matter how difficult and challenging, we always receive exactly what we need.
Anywhere but here! Anytime but now! Why is this happening? Will these issues ever end? These are some of the questions we kept asking ourselves. We started out with such good intentions, realizing all along that there would be many challenges—that is understood and expected, but we never imagined that things could go awry, be so different, so frustrating. We began this journey wide-eyed and totally engaged, willing to surrender ourselves to the intuitive and the soulful. During the first few years, things went great—excitement around every corner and surprises at every turn.
Then things seemed to change overnight. Nothing went like we imagined anymore. There were countless accidents, incidents, discouragements, and disappointments. Something appeared to be holding tightly onto our dreams and would not let go. No matter what we did, or how hard we tried, it would not release its grip. Curiously enough, everything operated according to “opposites,” meaning that the way things seemed was 180 degrees from the way things really were. The harder we pushed the more difficult the situations became. The simplest activities and goals turned into the most challenging. We were just about ready to give up when we realized that the issues existed, for the most part, within our perspective, and not really in the world. Then our “luck” began to change.
We suddenly realized from our many conversations that we were right where we needed to be after all. In the end, everything always works out (perhaps just not on our timetable). We learn and grow despite our clever efforts to escape and live free of conflict and challenge. Our anger, frustration, and questions were simply trying to teach us something about direction, as if with a bold arrow pointing “this way—through!” The problem was not in the external situation, but rather in our chosen perspective!
