Cheryl attended a week long seminar on Synchronicity: the Bridge Between Matter and Man in Pari Italy, convened by world-renowned physicist/author/lecturer David Peat. He moved his family from England to the small hill town of Pari to start a center for creativity and learning.
Much of David’s life has been devoted to the study of creativity and spontaneity, writing a number of books on the subject. On our occasional visits to Pari, we would pick up another text. We combined new inspirations from David’s work with our own long-term interest in creativity and spontaneity.
We had also read some similar work by Carl Jung about synchronicity and became excited about the possibilities. It seemed obvious that there was an important song for us to write about the need to loosen up control (or the illusion of it), and let things flow in a more “natural” and “organic” fashion.
Lyrics
Just after you button every loophole
Verify that your ducks are all in a row
Cross off everything on your checklist
At last you’re finally good to go
That’s when the unexpected slips out from the ordinary
Suddenly signals mix
As everything just falls right into place
What do you make of this electricity
Eerie sensation
Instant rapport
Familiar connection
You can’t quite put your finger on
What do you make of this synchronicity
You regain a sense of balance, an open view
Come to terms, even though there’s no sure proof or truth
What do you make of this spontaneity
Just after you cover all of the bases
Play your cards with the perfect winning hand
Even though it clearly looks like smooth sailing
Follow through with your best game plan
That’s when the unexpected slips out from the ordinary
Suddenly signals mix
As everything just falls right into place
What do you make of this
Where the ordinary slips beyond the everyday
Serendipity
Spontaneity
Synchronicity
