Something More

Something-More-LacingWe remember our friends talking a lot about the many projects they had underway, and how they would have to cut their Italy visit short to jet off to here or there in service to their clients. They loved their work as they often repeated, and were very good at what they did—which is often the case.

We reflected on our own times of frantic work, and made our re-commitments to what we had started here. We always believed that there had to be something more, because at the end of the day, the work life with money attached, although rewarding, didn’t really satisfy us.

Without knowing it, they had allowed us to see ourselves reflected through them. Our encounter and shared conversation helped us to re-imagine and recommit to our dream and our path.

Lyrics

Everybody tells me
I’m good at this thing that I do
And I smile when I tell them
I love what I do
But is it really true

Everyday I spend filling
All my hours with worthy detail
Yet my heart yearns for even more
Still I ache for more
There must be something more

In the morning I catch a plane
And land in a state with a different time zone
It’s lunchtime when I arrive
But was barely daybreak when I left home

To check-in at the local hotel where they know me
They’ve remodeled my favorite room, and they show me
After I wash off the taxi ride, I pull my notes from inside my bag
A car picks me up and takes me where I’m needed
Run the meeting
Goals exceeded

Everybody tells me
I’m good at this thing that I do
Yet my heart yearns for even more
Still I ache for more
There must be something more

Something more
