This drawing is about explicit values. Underlying principles and beliefs are often obscured from view in the complexities of the day. Then, there comes a moment of urgency and we emerge from the protective cocoon to show our true colors. Who we really are becomes abundantly clear.

This drawing is about our fragile environment. The polar bear became a symbol for our government’s willingness to prioritize profits over the environment. What was once protected was again becoming endangered. Even miracleas are not solutions to .

This drawing is about unreasonable expectations. We get all wound-up tight like the main spring of a clock with our expectations. The pressure is too much and disappointment is bound to follow. It’s just a matter of time.

This drawing is about sudden change. Without warning the ground beneath us breaks its’ promise, shattering into a million pieces, leaving only chaos behind. “Earthquakes” of equal magnitude also happen within our personal lives leaving us alone and heartbroken.

This drawing is about knowing your limits. We live like there are unlimited tomorrows. We also like to believe we can literally do anything we set our minds to. The fact is, there are always limitations, we just choose to ignore them. Then, at some point, when we least expect it we come face to face with the end—it’s unavoidable.

This drawing is about setting boundaries. The temptation of going along with group decisions just to keep from rocking the boat is real. However, as individuals, our deepest wisdom speaks intuitively from our bodies, not to be ignored. Ultimately, our sense about limits must be respected for self-respect. Never go along just to get along.

This drawing is about generating dependable power. Any man-made power whether electrical, social or political, created beyond an arms length from your body is inherently unreliable. It can be taken away quietly and slowly or disappear in an instant. In contrast, the only reliable power is generated from within. When nurtured, it will never let you down—a truly dependable source.

This drawing is about taking the middle ground. Division surrounds us, creating a vast no-man’s land in between. The illusion persists that only extremes are safe. We either huddle, glued to one position or swing back and forth. Hopefully the word will one day get out, that the sweet spot is actually in the middle.

This drawing is about global leadership. The United States is watched closely as the leader of the free world as the entire world depends on us to be our best for all globally. You might say that other democracies create carbon copies of our system and chosen direction. However, lately that has all come into question as our carbon footprint should not be copied—leaders are failing us.

This drawing is about honoring your destiny. The “Sleeping Man” on the mountain top in Tuscany provides a beautiful allegory about grief, commitment, perseverance and personal destiny. He has spent centuries lying there, face in the clouds, awaiting his true love’s return. She is his destiny and so he patiently waits—sleeping alone for all to see.
